Lab Research
Studying the identity transitions behind leadership and career growth.
Why This Research
At Pavese Insights Lab, my research explores the internal transitions people experience as responsibilities, authority, and expectations evolve.
Across my work, a consistent pattern shows up whether you are a founder, mid-career professional, or senior executive:
People feel capable, driven, and successful—yet increasingly misaligned, foggy, or stuck.
This research exists to name what’s often missing from leadership conversations: growth requires identity change, not just skill acquisition.
When identity lags behind role, friction emerges. When identity updates, leadership becomes clearer and more sustainable.
Current Focus
Founder Identity Transitions
What happens internally when founders/co-founders outgrow the version of themselves that built the company?
Founder roles change faster than most other leadership roles —identity struggles to keep up. What once drove progress—speed, proximity, control—can quietly become a source of friction. Confidence wobbles. Decisions feel heavier. Leadership stops feeling intuitive.
Rather than just looking at the skills needed for success, this work looks at the identity transitions required to lead.
Call for Founders
I’m inviting founders /co-founders to share their story and experience. We’ll talk about your journey as a founder and the internal shifts required as your role expands, expectations rise, and old ways of operating stop working.
Participation is voluntary and simple:
One confidential conversation
One short follow-up survey (under 5 minutes)
No prep. No performance. Just honest reflection.
If you’re in the middle of a leadership shift—or can feel one coming—I’d love to include your perspective.
Complete the form, and additional information will be shared to begin the research process.
